Obituary of Charles J. Shookies
WALLINGFORD - Charles J. (Brod) Shookies of 320 Pond Hill Road Wallingford died Friday, January 5, 2007 at the Masonic Hospice in Wallingford. He was the beloved husband of Nancy-Jean Freemen Shookies for 46 years
He was born on December 11, 1925 in Wallingford, Connecticut, a son of the late Joseph A. and Helen Leigus Shookies.
Before his retirement he was the owner Sunny View Orchards a family business begun with his father Joseph, continuing with Charles and later his son Joseph. He was a parishioner of the Church of the Resurrection in Wallingford.
In addition to his wife Nancy-Jean, he is survived by a son Joseph C. Shookies and his wife Jolanta of Wallingford and an aunt, Isabelle Gannon. He is also survived by MaryAnn Gannon, Rosemary Lynch, Charlie Leigus, Marilyn Slater and Judy Pearson his cousins. He was predeceased by his twin brother Joseph Charles Shookies and a sister Ruth Ann Jones. He is also survived by his beloved dog Rover.
The funeral will leave the B.C. Bailey Funeral Home, 273 S. Elm St Wallingford on Tuesday, January 9, 2007 at 9:45 a.m. to the Church of the Resurrection, 115 Pond Hill Road, Wallingford for a mass of Christian burial at 10:30 a.m. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday, January 8, 2007 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Burial will be at In Memoriam Cemetery. In lieu of flowers gifts in hi memory may be sent to the Church of the Resurrection Building Fund, 115 Pond Hill Road, Wallingford, CT 06492.
