Obituary of "Jack" John Grennan
"Jack" John J. Grennan, 83, passed early on June 18, 2017 at home in the presence of his loving family. He leaves behind the love of his life, Patricia K. (O'Malley) Grennan with whom he shared 58 years of wonderful marriage.
Jack was born in Brooklyn, NY on April 9, 1934 to the late John and Mary (O'Brien) Grennan.
John was a veteran of the US Army and had worked for 36 years at Equitable Life in New York and Connecticut. After retirement he had his second career at Masonic Home and Hospital. Jack, an avid baseball fan, held Sunday season tickets for the Mets and later for the New Haven Ravens. Each of his grandchildren saw their first live baseball games with their grandfather. Jack loved spending his time with his wife Pat, his children, his grandchildren, and the rest of his family including his dog Kelly and his cat Erin.
In addition to his wife, Jack is cherished in the memories of his three children and their spouses: John and Mary Grennan, Thomas and Karen Grennan, Jane and David Kerr. He also leaves behind his grandchildren David Kerr, Jordan Kerr, and Katie Grennan. Of Jack's four sisters, he is survived by Pat McGowan, and he is predeceased by Marilyn McQuade, Nonie Preston, and Claire Mulholland. He is also survived by his many nieces and nephews.
His family will receive friends and visitors at the B.C. Bailey Funeral Home, 273 South Elm St., Wallingford on Wednesday from 6:00 - 8:00 PM. The funeral cortege will depart the B.C. Bailey Funeral Home on Thursday at 10:00 am for a Mass of Christian Burial which will be held at Most Holy Trinity Church at 10:30 am.
