Obituary of Joyce E. White

WALLINGFORD - Joyce Elaine Getchell Reed White, 89, departed this life on December 28, 2017 at Skyview Center in Wallingford. She was the beloved wife of 68 years of the late Ferd White, Sr. who passed away June 27, 2017. They moved to Wallingford in the early 1950s to build a home and raise their family.

Joyce was born in Caribou, ME on September 26, 1928 to the late Russell and Maude (Jewett) Getchell.

Joyce found great joy in the natural beauty of flowers such as peonies, lilacs and irises as well as bird watching for cardinals, finches and other beautiful birds. She was an avid bowler and also enjoyed painting ceramics. She loved to help others and was always willing to give advice.

Joyce is survived by two sons: Albert Jefferson Reed, Jr. "Bucky" of FL., Ferd E. White, Jr. "Mickey" (his fiancé Sherry Furbush) of ME; and two daughters: Sherri (Henry) Woronick of Wallingford, and Roberta J. "Bobbie" (Gary Bernabi) White of Wallingford; and two sisters: Luella and Dorothy. She will also be missed by several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, and surviving in-laws. Joyce was predeceased by her sisters: Alice, Augusta (Gustie) and Flora; brothers: Carleton, Howard and Robert; grandson: Jeremy J. White; and a daughter-in-law: Shirley (Williams) Reed.

The family will receive visitors on Saturday, January 6, 2018 from 12:00 - 2:00 PM at the B.C. Bailey Funeral Home, 273 South Elm Street, Wallingford.
