Obituary of Eric Michael Schoonmaker

WALLINGFORD - Eric ("Rick") Michael Schoonmaker, 56, departed this life on May 11, 2017 at his home in Wallingford, CT. He was born in Monticello, NY on November 12, 1960 and was adopted by the late Royce and Gertrude Schoonmaker with whom he had a very deep and loving relationship. After graduating high school in Wallingford, Rick attended the University of New Haven and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree, cum laude.

Rick was a registered Connecticut State Interior Designer and over the years was responsible for many commercial design projects in the area. His hobbies included poetry, writing, music, art, auto racing and genealogy. He was an Eagle Scout and had been an Assistant Scout Master. He generously contributed his time to the community, especially at the library helping others on genealogy projects. He built bass guitars and helped with a local band - the Mighty Purple. He is survived by friends and an extended family with whom he kept in close contact despite being separated by distance.
