Living Wills

Have you made your wishes clear should you face a medical emergency? Unfortunately, far too few people  have. If you are unable to speak for yourself, it is helpful that your family or caregivers know exactly what your  wishes are. It is most helpful if you have prepared documents ahead of time that express these preferences.

Some people avoid preparing living wills, advanced directives, and appointments of a healthcare  representative because they believe that it takes too much time or will require them to hire an attorney. While  working with an expert is always a good idea, inability to do so should not stop you from planning.

Connecticut’s Office of the Attorney General provides templates online that you can use to get started. These resources are free of charge and simple to understand. You can do something of immense importance for those that you care about – and you can do it today.
