Obituary of George Joseph Suplinskas
WALLINGFORD - George J. Suplinskas, 77, of Wallingford, beloved husband of Aline (Tardif) Suplinskas, departed this life on Sunday, March 14, 2010 peacefully at his home surrounded by his family.
George was born on September 23, 1932, in Hartford, CT, son of the late Paul and Delina (Valliere) Suplinskas. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army who served during the Korean Conflict as a Medic in Japan. After completion of high school in Hartford he graduated from X-ray school at St. Francis Hospital. He was employed by the Meriden-Wallingford Hospital for 35 years until his retirement in the Radiology Department. Through his years he taught and mentored many X-ray students that remember him fondly.
George was a Wallingford resident for 51 years active as a coach and board member of Wallingford Little League. He was a communicant of the Church of the Resurrection. George was an active grandfather, who enjoyed attending Lauren and Greg's softball, baseball, basketball and football games. In his later years he enjoyed the love and pride of his family.
In addition to his wife of over 57 years Aline of Wallingford he is survived by three sons: Ronald Suplinskas of New Haven, Alan Suplinskas and his wife Kelly of Wallingford, and Jeffrey Suplinskas of Wallingford. He also leaves two brothers, Larry Suplinskas and his wife Lee of CA, and Norman Suplinskas and his wife Tara of ME. George also leaves his beloved grandchildren Lauren and Greg Suplinskas both of Wallingford. He is preceded in death by his daughter, Janice Nisbet, and his brother Raymond Suplinskas.
Relatives and friends may call on Wednesday, March 17th from 4 - 7 PM at the B.C. Bailey Funeral Home, 273 S. Elm Street, Wallingford. A funeral service will be held following the calling hours on Wednesday at 7 PM in the funeral home. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions may be directed to the charity of one's choice.
