CHESHIRE - Ruth Fitzpatrick Saunders, 86, of Cheshire, died peacefully at home on Saturday, February 20, 2010 thanks to the loving support of her family and especially Sally Thomson. She was the wife of the late William T. Saunders. Ruth was born April 4, 1923 in Waterbury and was the daughter of the late Michael and Bessie (Kirk) Fitzpatrick. She was a graduate of Naugatuck High School and attended Teachers College of Connecticut in New Britain. She worked at Peter Paul in Naugatuck, Cheshire Travel Agency and was the first female technician at AT&T in Cheshire. She traveled extensively with her husband Bill during their 40 years of marriage spending several years in Singapore. Ruth is survived by her brother, John Fitzpatrick and his wife, Beth, of Brackendale, British Columbia; daughter, Jacqueline Harris of Tucson, AZ; son and daughter-in-law, David and Bernice Saunders of Cheshire; son and daughter-in-law, Brad Saunders and Gale Lemieux of Berlin; daughter, Darcey Saunders of Glendale, AZ; three grandsons, Ken Boyton, Jeffrey Saunders and Christopher Saunders and two great grandchildren, Katelyn and Jason Boyton. Relatives and friends may call on Friday, February 26th from 10:00 AM until 10:30 AM at the B.C. Bailey Funeral Home, 273 S. Elm Street, Wallingford. A funeral service will follow in the funeral home at 10:30 AM. Interment at Hillside Cemetery in Naugatuck will be private and at the convenience of the family.
