Robert Osborne Buchanan , 81, passed away Wednesday February 18 2010. Bob grew up in Nashua New Hampshire and Springfield Massachusetts, graduating from Commerce High school in Springfield. At 17 Bob entered the Navy after which he joined the Army serving in the Intelligence Corp in France. Upon returning to Springfield Bob followed his passion for sports playing both semi pro football and baseball. That is where Bob met his bride of 54 years the late Patricia Fleming Buchanan. Bob�s career with Dunn & Bradstreet took his family to Maine, Boston and eventually New Haven. After D&B, Bob served as President of the Hoggson & Pettis Mfg Company before establishing the R.O. Buchanan Company manufacturing tools and dies for the rubber and plastics industry. Settling in Wallingford in 1956 and raising 4 children, Bob was involved with Wallingford Lions Club and served for many years on the finance board of the Yalesville Methodist church. Bob is survived by his four children and their families, Robert O. Buchanan Jr. of Windham; Kevin and Julie Buchanan of Old Lyme; Lori Buchanan and her partner Maria Ryder of Lewiston, Maine; Lynn and Nick Coliccihio of Shrewsbury, Massachusetts; daughter in law Abbe Buchanan of Wallingford; his six grand children and their spouses, Jennifer and Trenton Larson; Mellissa Buchanan and fianc� Craig Stegos of Wallingford; Victoria and Elizabeth Buchanan of Old Lyme; Connor and Paige Coliccihio of Shrewsbury Massachusetts; and two great grandchildren Jordyn and Tarin Larson. Calling hours will be Saturday February 20, 1:00 to 4:00 PM, directly followed by a service of remembrance, at BC Bailey Funeral Home and, 273 South Elm Street, Wallingford.
