WALLINGFORD - Charles Young, 88, departed this life on Sunday, July 24, 2016. He was the beloved husband of Carol Young. Charles (Bud)was born in Meriden, CT on June 20, 1928 to Elizabeth and Charles Young Sr. He graduated from Lyman Hall High School and joined the Army serving in the Military Police in Japan at the close of World War II. He then attended the School of Agriculture at UCONN. He owned and operated Young's Apple Orchard in Wallingford, CT until his retirement in 1990. He belonged to the Connecticut Pomological Society and served as its President. He was also on the board of directors of the New York-New England Apple Institute. He was an avid golfer and belonged to the Madison Country Club. He was a die hard Red Sox and UCONN women's basketball fan. He is survived by his wife Carol and daughters, Carla Young, Meo Young (Michael Laine), Katie (John) Smith, Sally Young (Kevin Gauntlett), and Jane (Tom) Harlan. He is also survived by eight grandchildren, one great grandchild and his sister Nancy Heilman. He is predeceased by his sister Elizabeth Roberge. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, July 27, 2016 at 11:00 A.M. at the B.C. Bailey Funeral Home, 273 South Elm Street in Wallingford, CT.
