Obituary of Bertha L. Binder
WALLINGFORD - Binder, Bertha L. a longtime resident of Wallingford passed away peacefully in her sleep on January 9, 2010. She is predeceased by her husband of 46 years, Frank J. Binder and eight of her nine siblings. She is survived by her children; Maureen Binder of Wallingford and her spouse Paul Donahe and Frank W. Binder of Shrewsbury, Massachusetts and his spouse Cathy Sessions, her grandchildren; Jay Kubeck of New Haven, Brian Kubeck of Wallingford, Allison Bryant and her spouse Karl Bryant of Florida, Graham Binder of Reston, Virginia, along with one step-granddaughter, Christine Donahe of Wallingford. She also leaves her great-grandchildren; Gage and Grayson Bryant of Florida. Her sister, Laurette Gelinas of Port Charlotte, Florida also survives her.
Ms Binder was born in Gorham, New Hampshire to Charles Landry and Rosanna Ouellette. She moved to Connecticut as a young woman, married her beloved husband and raised her family. As the longtime owner and operator of the Pond Hill Beauty Salon, she was well known in the community and revered by her customers for her sense of humor, great wash and drys, and generous spirit.
She had an enormous appreciation for life�s possibilities and in her later years she developed her talent for painting, became a fixture in local golf leagues, scoured the local flea markets, collected antiques, traveled the world, was delighted that she could use her native language in Paris, and took great pride and comfort in being with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Her family will always remember and treasure her lifetime of fierce love and support for them and will recall fondly her uncontrollable fits of infectious laughter that lit up our lives.
Relatives and friends may call on Wednesday, January 13th from 4 � 7 PM at the B.C. Bailey Funeral Home, 273 S. Elm Street, Wallingford. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, January 14th at 10:30 AM at the Church of the Resurrection in Wallingford. Interment will follow in St. John�s Cemetery in Wallingford.
