WALLINGFORD - Jean S. Grindell, 89, of Wallingford, departed this life on December 21, 2009, at the Meriden Center. Jean was born on July 17, 1920 in Waterbury, CT, daughter of the late Edward C. Studwell and Margaret (Bristol) Studwell. She moved to Wallingford in 1925. She retired after 16 years from Caplan's Market. She was a Past Matron and life member of the Meridian Chapter #8 Order of the Eastern Star. In her spare time she enjoyed crafting and knitting. She was also an avid reader. She will be sadly missed by her daughter Elizabeth Ann Grindell of Wallingford with whom she lived. One son, Alfred Grindell and his wife Susan of Middletown, RI, along with one beloved granddaughter Samantha Grindell also of Middletown, RI. The family wishes to thank the staff of the Meriden Center for all of the kindness and care they provided to Jean. A Memorial service will be held on Monday, December 28, 2009 at 7:00 pm at the B.C. Bailey Funeral Home, 273 S. Elm Street, Wallingford following an Order of the Eastern Star Service. Friends may call at the funeral home from 5:00 - 6:45pm.
