Obituary of Robert M. Heath

NORTH BRANFORD - Robert "Bob" Heath, 87, of North Branford and formerly of Madison, beloved husband of Carol (Anderson) Heath, departed this life surrounded by his family on Saturday, November 21, 2009 at Yale New Haven Hospital. Bob was born on March 6, 1922 in New Haven, CT, son of the late John and Juliet (McGaughey) Heath. He obtained a Bachelors Degree from Weslyan University graduating class of 1944. He served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS LST 532 during World War II and the invasion of Europe. He retired from Southern New England Telephone Company as a district manager after 39 years of employment. In his sparetime he was an avid golfer and long time member of Clinton Country Club. He also enjoyed woodworking where he made everything from furniture to birdhouses and his seven granddaughter's hope chests. He was also an avid sports fan and a fan of the Patriots and the Red Sox. He will be sadly missed by his wife of 64 years Carol Heath of North Branford. Jon "Andy" Heath and his wife Linda of East Windsor, Robin Bryce and her husband Dexter of Arnold, MD, Michael Heath and his wife Valerie of Brunswick, ME, and Christine Heath and her husband John Mulcahey of Ossining, NY. He also leaves 11 grandchildren and 1 great granddaughter. He is preceded in death by a brother, John Heath. A celebration of life will be held on Friday, December 4th from 2:00 PM - 4:00 PM in the Pavillion Room at Evergreen Woods, 88 Notch Hill Rd, North Branford. Memorial contributions may be directed to the charity of one's choice. The B. C. Bailey Funeral Home of Wallingford has been entrusted with arrangements.
