NORTHFORD - Leo Peter Belomizi, 86, entered into rest on October 31, 2009 surrounded by his loving family at the Hospital of St. Raphael. He was the loving husband of Sylvia (Drozdz) Belomizi. He was born in New Britain on July 14, 1923, a son of the late Alexander and Anastasia (Kowalczyk) Belamiza. Prior to his retirement, he had been employed by Alleghany Ludlum Steel. He was a parishioner of St. Augustine's Church in Northford and enjoyed fishing, camping and snowmobiling. Leo also enjoyed working on cars with his son and any activity that included his family. In addition to his wife, he will be missed by a son, Steven Belomizi and his wife Cheryl of Wallingford; three daughters, Linda Shatkyvich of Northford, Elizabeth Belomizi of Wallingford, and Nancy Perry and her husband Tom of Higganum; sisters Sophie Riss and Helen Whitaker; eleven grandchildren and three great grandchildren and his two "girls" Huey and Hol-lee. He was predeceased by his brothers Alexander, Peter and John. A memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, November 6, 2009 at 10:30 am at St. Augustine's Church, 30 Caputo Rd, North Branford. Friends are invited to call at the B.C. Bailey Funeral Home, 273 S. Elm St., Wallingford on Thursday from 4:00 - 6:00 pm. Burial at the Northford Cemetery will be private.
