Wallingford - Ruth Woodruff, 92, of Wallingford, beloved wife of the late Lloyd Woodruff, departed this life on Sunday, July 19, 2009 at her home peacefully. Ruth was born on August 5, 1916 in New Haven, CT daughter of the late Willet and Evelina (Markham) Ives. She was a graduate of Southern Connecticut University class of 1938 with a degree in education. She taught for 39 years within the Wallingford School System, and later in Florida. Ruth was an active member of the Order of the Eastern Star for more than 50 years. She also volunteered her time at the Masonic Healthcare Center in Wallingford. In her spare time she enjoyed gardening and reading. She will be sadly missed by her nephew Timothy Ives of North Carolina along with her cousin Dale A. Muller of Waterbury, CT. She is preceded in death by her brother Donald Ives a veteran of World War II. Relatives and friends may call on Friday, July 24th from 4 - 7 PM at the B.C. Bailey Funeral Home, 273 S. Elm Street, Wallingford. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 25, 2009 at 10 AM in the chapel of the funeral home. Interment will follow at In Memoriam Cemetery in Wallingford.
