Obituary of Norton Henry Bradley

Wallingford - Norton H. Bradley, 99 of Wallingford and formerly of Hamden, beloved husband of the late Ruby (Adams) Bradley, departed this life on Sunday, June 21, 2009 at the Masonic Healthcare Center. Norton was born on July 26, 1909 in New Haven, CT, son of the late Lewis and Elizabeth (Gallagher) Bradley. He owned and operated Hendricks Heating Company for many years and later worked for Chevron Oil as a salesman. Norton had been an active member of the Dunbar United Church of Christ in Hamden for many years. He had been active in the Day Spring Masonic Lodge for over sixty years and was a Shriner. He served as a selectman for the Town of Hamden and later served on the board for senior housing. He had been a member of the Dunbar Volunteer Fire Department and the Dunbar Community Club. After becoming a Pioneer resident at Ashlar Village in Wallingford, he founded and organized the Ashlar Art Interest Group. Norton will be sadly missed by his sons: Norton Scott Bradley and his wife Helen of Mesa, AZ, and Timothy Bradley and his wife Ann of Danforth, ME and by a daughter-in-law Linda Bradley of Harrisonburg, VA. He also leaves two grandsons: David Bradley of Chicago, IL and Christopher Bradley and his wife Oriel of Gallop, NM, and a much loved great grandchild Ruby Bradley, along with a special friend Beverly Lathrop of Wallingford, along with numerous extended family. A memorial service celebrating Norton's life will be held on Thursday, July 9th at 1:00 PM in the auditorium of Ashlar Village (Please note the change in the service location). A reception will follow the service. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Masonic Charity Foundation, P.O. Box 70, Wallingford, CT 06492 or Dunbar United Church, 419 Dunbar Hill Rd, Hamden, CT 06514. The family thanks the staff of the Masonic Health Care Facility for the friendly, compassionate care they offered Norton.
