MERIDEN � David Edward Heitz, 86, formerly of Ocala, FL, departed this life on March 25, 2009 at the Masonic Healthcare Center in Wallingford. He was the beloved husband of Dorothy (Stromberg) Heitz. David was born on October 3, 1922 in Wilmington, Delaware, son of the late Joseph and Mary (Klingler) Heitz. He was an Air Force veteran and had been a member of the American Legion and the D.A.V. Prior to his retirement, he was the Welding Foreman for the Filmline Corporation. He had been active in his church communities throughout his life and enjoyed singing and sharing jokes. He brought great joy to all who knew him. In addition to his wife, he will be sadly missed by: his son, David Heitz Jr. and his wife Phyllis of Tennessee; two daughters, Signe Olivieri and her husband, Nicholas, of Hamden, CT and Audrey Schiller and her husband, William, of Vernon, CT; a sister, Mary Marino of Delaware; and five grandchildren. He was predeceased by a brother, Joseph Heitz and a sister, Louise Dougherty. A funeral service will be led by Pastor Robert Hass on Saturday, April 4, 2009 at 10:00 AM at the Zion Lutheran Church, 235 Pond Hill Rd., Wallingford. Interment will follow at the Connecticut State Veterans Cemetery in Middletown. It is suggested that contributions in his name be made to Zion Lutheran Church.
