James P. Sheehan, 83, of Meriden, departed this life on Sunday, March 8, 2009 at his residence in Meriden. He was the loving husband of Mildred Moore Sheehan. James was born on March 20, 1925, in Newport, VT, son of the late G. Raymond and Viola (Rollins) Sheehan. He had been employed by Pratt and Whitney and retired in 1989 after 37 years. He had attended Middlebury College. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed skiing in his youth as well as playing baseball, football and basketball. He played cribbage with his friends at the St. Pierre Social Club where he had been a long time member. He was also a member of the VFW and American Legion. He was a doting grandfather and great grandfather. In addition to his wife, he will be sadly missed by his sons: Michael J. Sheehan and his wife Marion of Moosup, CT, and James P. Sheehan Jr. of Vernon, CT; two daughters: Deborah Sheehan Kocher and her husband Kevin of Pottsville, PA and Jo Dee Sheehan Gura and her husband Thomas of Ohio; a sister, Rae Sheehan Cummings of Burlington, VT; 15 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by a daughter, Lori Lee Sheehan and a brother: Robert R. (Bobo) Sheehan. Graveside services and burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery in Bristol, VT at a later date.
