Obituary of Beulah M. Jarvis

WALLINGFORD - Beulah Mae (Jordan) Jarvis, of Ashlar Village, Wallingford, died on Tuesday, July 29, 2008. Beulah was predeceased by her husband of 52 years, Alfred G. Jarvis. Beulah was born in Hartford, Connecticut on February 24, 1921, the daughter of Robert Guthrie Jordan and Beulah Mae (Barrett) Jordan. She lived in West Hartford for most of her life, and graduated from William Hall High School (West Hartford) in the class of 1939. Beulah was a member of the first freshman class of Hartford Junior College, which later became Hartford College for Women, and graduated in 1941. Beulah was a member of St. John�s Episcopal Church for many years, and was a Sunday school teacher there. Beulah served as Worthy Advisor of Hartford Assembly Member #9, International Order of the Rainbow for Girls. She was a past matron of Storer Chapter #73 O.E.S., of West Hartford, which is now affiliated with Newington Chapter #115. Beulah was a past Mother Advisor of West Hartford Assembly, International Order of the Rainbow for Girls. She also served as a Regent of Sarah Whitman Hooker Chapter, D.A.R., of West Hartford. Mrs. Jarvis was a descendant of original settlers of Hartford and New Haven, Connecticut. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. John�s Episcopal Church, 679 Farmington Avenue, West Hartford, Connecticut 06119-1811 or to the charity of the donor�s choice. Burial will be private. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, August 13 at 2:00 p.m., Ashlar Village, Wallingford. The B.C. Bailey Funeral Home, 273 South Elm St., Wallingford has been entrusted with the arrangements.
