Obituary of Paul Hummel
North Haven - Paul E. Hummel, 98, of North Haven, beloved husband of the late Irmgard (Bathen) Hummel, departed this life on Sunday, June 22, 2008, at the Masonic Home in Wallingford.
Paul was born in Hamden, CT, son of the late Frederick and Pauline (Van Allman) Hummel.
He was employed as an auto body man at Brown & Thomas Cadillac in New Haven for 36 years. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Army. He was a member of the North Haven Congregational Church, Corinthian Lodge 103 AF & AM in North Haven, Scottish Rite, Valley of New Haven, Pyramid Temple Shriners in Milford, and retired Teamster Union No. 443. He was an active volunteer at the Masonic Home. He was an accomplished artist, and enjoyed the outdoors which included archery and fishing. In his youth he enjoyed amatuer boxing.
He will be sadly missed by his children: Bernard Hummel and his wife Elfie of North Haven, Helen Anderson of Hamden, Damon Hummel of Clinton, and Dennis Hummel and his wife Patti of NY. He also leaves 5 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by 3 brothers and 4 sisters along with his 2nd wife Lillian (Tokarz) Hummel.
Relatives and friends may call on Wednesday, June 25, 2008 at the B.C. Bailey Funeral Home, 273 S. Elm Street, Wallingford from 4 - 6 PM. A funeral service will follow at 6PM in the funeral home officiated by Rev. Margaret Jay of the 1st Congregational Church of Wallingford. Interment is private and at the convenience of the family.
