Mildred Tongue, 88, of Wallingford, departed this life on Saturday, March 1, 2008 at MidState Medical Center in Meriden. She was born on May 11, 1919, and was a lifelong resident of Wallingford. Mildred was the daughter of the late Charles and Mary Ann Morrell Tongue. Until her retirement, she worked at Wallingford Steel Co. She was an active member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Wallingford. Mildred was an artist, an avid golfer and former member of the Wallingford Country Club, and a long-time member of the Wallingford Garden Club. She was predeceased by her sisters, Florence Schlenker and Lillian Prowse. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 5, 2008, at 9:00 a.m. at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 65 North Main Street, Wallingford. Interment will follow at In Memoriam Cemetery. There are no calling hours. The B.C. Bailey Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.
