WALLINGFORD – Margaret C. Spence, 79, of Wallingford, beloved wife of Thomas W. Spence Sr., departed this life on Tuesday, February 12, 2008 at Yale New Haven Hospital, surrounded by her loving family. Margaret was born on June 7, 1928, in Queens, NY, daughter of the late Thomas and Margaret (O'Leary) Shannon, and step-daughter of Frank Briggs. She worked as an accounting clerk for many years for Home Insurance. She was a communicant of Most Holy Trinity Church in Wallingford. In her spare time she enjoyed knitting and was an avid reader, frequenting the Wallingford Library. Margaret also volunteered at the MidState Eye Surgery Center. The most important thing in her life was her family, whom she loved dearly. She will be sadly missed by her husband of 58 years, Thomas of Wallingford, and her six children: Kathleen Lambour-Spence and her husband Gary of Cromwell, Joanne Alexander of North Haven, Thomas W. Spence Jr. and his wife Fran of MN, John Spence and his wife Susan of Durham, Darlene Weghorst of OH, and William Spence and his wife Michele of Wallingford. Margaret also leaves 8 beloved grandchildren: Christopher, Alisha, Ryan, Matthew, Emily, Natalie, Olivia, and David. She is preceded in death by her brother, Frank Briggs. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, February 15, 2008 at 10:00 AM at Most Holy Trinity Church in Wallingford. Interment will follow in In Memoriam Cemetery in Wallingford.
