Obituary of William Jobbagy

William P. Jobbagy, 88, of Wallingford, beloved husband of Elizabeth Jobbagy departed this life on Thursday, January 17, 2008, surrounded by his loving family at the Masonic Healthcare Center. Bill was born in Hungary, on September 25, 1919, son of the late Joseph and Mary (Fehey) Jobbagy. At the age of 5 he immigrated to the United States at Ellis Island with his mother and four brothers. He enlisted in the U.S Army serving during World War II. During his time in the Army he worked as a Cryptographer. On October 17, 1942 he married Elizabeth Toth, and they spent over 65 years of loving marriage together. Bill worked for 31 years at Wallingford Steel until his retirement in 1979. In his spare time he enjoyed golfing and bowling and was an avid card player. He also enjoyed reading. He will be remembered by his family and friends as an easy going, hard working man, who had a huge love and devotion for his family. He will be missed by his loving wife, Elizabeth of Wallingford. His children: William Jobbagy and his wife Silvia of Coventry, James Jobbagy and his wife Marie of Wallingford, and Susan Darmofalski and her husband Stanley of Bourne, MA. He also leaves one brother, Lester Jobbagy of Wallingford. He leaves "his girls", Sarah Wyles, Danyel, Tiffany, and Heidi Jobbagy and Natasha Valladares. He also leaves several nieces and nephews. Bill is preceded in death by 4 brothers. Relatives and friends may call on Monday, January 21, 2008 from 10 AM - 12 PM at the B.C. Bailey Funeral Home, 273 S. Elm Street, Wallingford. A private funeral service will be held at the family's convenience. Interment will be in In Memoriam Cemetery.
