WALLINGFORD – Evelyn Hayward Dreher, 86, formerly of Northford and Ft. Myers, Florida, died January 15th, 2008 at the Masonic Healthcare Center. She was the wife of the late Raymond Ashley Hayward and late Robert Dreher. Evelyn was born in Middletown on July 25, 1921. She was the daughter of the late Charles Arthur and Frances Margaret Radcliffe Doebener. Evelyn worked for many years with her husband, Raymond Hayward, at Sherwin Williams in Branford as an interior decorator and later at Blue Cross & Blue Shield of CT until her retirement to Florida in 1982. She belonged to the First United Methodist Church in Wallingford and was a member of the Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church in Fort Myers, FL. She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Stephen Hayward and Susan Taylor of Middletown, Richard and Donna Hayward of Bolton, a daughter and son-in-law, Lauren and Paul Hacku of Wallingford, sister Marjorie Sabin of Middletown, and sister and brother-in-law Muriel and Roger Rabadeau of Augusta ME. She also leaves behind three loving grandchildren, Michael and Thomas Hacku and Victoria Hayward. Friends may call at the B. C. Bailey Funeral Home, 273 South Elm Street from 9:30-10:30 A.M. on Thursday, January 17, 2008. The funeral service will follow at the First United Methodist Church located at 961 Old Rock Hill Road in Wallingford at 11:00 A.M. A private burial will follow at Duck River Cemetery in Old Lyme.
