Obituary of Norma Sullivan

HAMDEN - Norma Sullivan, 75, of Hamden entered into her rest on December 25, 2007 at Connecticut Hospice in Branford. She was the wife of John Sullivan. Norma was born on July 9, 1932 in Roosevelt, L.I.N.Y., daughter of George and Ethel (Purdy) Howard. She later moved to Freeport, where she grew up, attending Freeport grammar and high schools. Norma was employed by New York Telephone as a long distance operator at the Garden City Toll Center before she began her long fulfilling role as mother and homemaker. She designed and made her own clothes as well as her children's'. She found great joy in raising and guiding her children from infancy to adulthood. She enjoyed doing crossword puzzles and watching Wheel of Fortune. Traveling, and camping her family also brought her joy. Norma was a member of the Wallingford Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses. Besides her husband of 52 years, she is survived by her daughters Kathy Bus of Quensbury, NY, Joan Howland and her husband Jack of Cheshire, Sherry Masella and her husband Michael of Cheshire, Susan Sullivan of Hamden; her son, John Surprenant and his wife Nancy of Rye, NH; her grandchildren David and Michael Seely of Glensfalls, NY, Katelyn and Kristen Bus of Quensbury, NY, David Bonyai and Justin Howland of Cheshire, Laura, Amanda, and Stephanie Masella of Cheshire, Katrina Fusco of Engelwood, NJ, and Alana McKenney of Meriden. Relatives and friends may call on Friday, December 28, 2007 from 4:00 – 8:00 pm at the B.C. Bailey Funeral Home, 273 South Elms St., Wallingford. Graveside services will be private. A memorial talk will be given Sunday, December 30, 2007 at 6:00 pm at Kingdom Hall, 1 Cottage St., Yalesville.
