Obituary of Wilbur Johnson
WALLINGFORD - Wilbur Clifford Johnson, 79, formerly of Grove St., Yalesville and Ashlar Village, entered into rest on Thursday, December 20, 2007 at Masonic Healthcare Center in Wallingford. He was the beloved husband of Isabel (Sweet) Johnson. They were married for 60 years.
Born on September 3, 1928 , in Meriden, CT, son of the late Clifford and Adelle (Kowalski) Johnson, Wilbur was a long-time Wallingford resident. He had been employed by the Allegheny Ludlum Steel Corporation in Wallingford for almost 47 years, as a Superintendent, until his retirement.
Wilbur had been a member of the First Baptist Church in Wallingford. As a Mason, he was a member of Compass Lodge #9 in Wallingford. While a resident of Ashlar Village, he was active in many of the community activities and known for his volunteer work in the village community store. He was an avid golfer and will be missed by his golfing buddies.
In addition to his wife, he will be sadly missed by a son-in-law, Larry Chatfield of Middletown, a brother, Donald Johnson of West Palm Beach, Florida, a sister, Janice Graham of Kodiak, Tennessee, several nieces and nephews and dear friends. He is preceded in death by his loving daughter, Sharon (Johnson) Chatfield, his brother Robert Johnson and sister Joan Leno.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, December 26, 2007 at 1:00 pm at the Masonic Healthcare Center Chapel, 22 Masonic Avenue, Wallingford. There are no calling hours.
