Dennis F. Barry, 61, of Wallingford, beloved husband of Margaret (Ferri) Barry, departed this life on Tuesday, December 4, 2007 at his home. Dennis was born on January 31, 1946 in New Haven, son of the late Francis and Catherine (Bridgett) Barry. He was a graduate of Lyman Hall High School class of 1964. Upon graduation he enlisted in the U.S. Army, serving during Vietnam. While in the military he served as a mechanic. Later he drove trucks for the Army. He was employed with the Preisner Silver Company for over eight years. He worked for LaRosa Construction in Meriden, later working for Lyon & Billard Company as a truck driver. He worked for Valley Oil Company in Portland for nine years. He retired from Fuller Enterprise. In his spare time he enjoyed crafts, especially working with wood and seashells. He also enjoyed writing children's stories. He will be sadly missed by his devoted wife of 19 years, Margaret Barry of Wallingford. His daughter Crista Volturno and her husband Nick of Middlefield. One son, Richard Barry of Meriden. He also leaves his sister, Kathleen Trumbley and her husband Thomas of Oxford. One step-son, Keith Durkin of Wallingford, and two step-daughters: Barbara Durkin of Wallingford, and Denise Becker of SC. He leaves 4 grandchildren and 4 step-grandchildren, along with 3 step-great grandchildren. He also leaves 3 aunts and numerous cousins. A graveside service celebrating his life will be held at the Middletown State Veterans Cemetery on Friday, December 7, 2007 at 11:00 AM. Memorial contributions may be directed to the American Cancer Society. The B.C. Bailey Funeral Home of Wallingford has been entrusted with arrangements.
