Obituary of Jean King
NORTHFORD – Jean B. King, 74, of Northford entered into rest on November 3, 2007 at the MidState Medical Center in Meriden. She was the beloved wife of Irving King.
She was born in Branford, CT and was the daughter of the late Roger O. and Irma (Lehr) Backes.
She was a graduate of Briarcliff Manor Junior College in New York and had been employed by the former Meriden-Wallingford Hospital and the office of Dr. Richard Breck in Wallingford. She had volunteered at the Gaylord Hospital. She had been a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Northford Volunteer Fire Department and had a life time love of animals, particularly the horses she rode.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by two daughters, Donna J. Valleau and her husband Matthew of Wallingford and Cheryl K. Norrie and her husband Gregory of Madison; and two grandsons William and James Valleau of Wallingford; and a brother-in-law Robert Jordan of Denver, PA. She was pre-deceased by a sister, Jane L. Jordan.
A funeral will be held at the B.C. Bailey Funeral Home, 273 South Elm St., Wallingford on Wednesday, November 7, 2007 at 10:00 am. Burial will follow at the New Northford Cemetery. Friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 5:00 – 7:00 PM. It is suggested that contributions in her memory be made to MidState Cancer Center, 435 Lewis Ave., Meriden, CT 06451.
