DURHAM – Jean A. McDermott, 83, of Mill Pond Ln, departed this life on November 3, 2007 at the Hospice of the Middlesex Hospital in Middletown. She was the beloved wife of the late Wayne McDermott, Sr. She was born in Danville, IL on September 13, 1924, a daughter of the late Charles and Gladys (Grainger) Anderson. Jean was a registered nurse and had been employed by Gaylord Hospital for 32 year before her retirement in 1988. She had been a member of the Mispah Chapter #37 Order of the Eastern Star of Wallingford. She is survived by three loving sons: Wayne, Jr. and his wife Cindy of Wallingford, Paul and his wife Elise of Middletown, and James and his wife Gloria of Meriden; a sister Thelma Crosby of Brattleboro, VT; and her seven grandchildren, Melissa, Tim, Kelly, Klair, Kate, Ryan, and Colleen. She also leaves behind many dear friends. A funeral will be led by the Rev. Dean O. Warburton of the First Congregational Church of Wallingford on Thursday, November 8, 2007 at 10:00 am in the chapel of the B.C. Bailey Funeral Home, 273 South Elm St., Wallingford. Burial will follow at the Walnut Grove Cemetery in Meriden. Friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 5:00 – 7:00 pm.
