Obituary of Russell Pierce
Russell A. Pierce, 85, of the Masonic Healthcare Center, formerly of Ashlar Village and Madison, departed this life on Thursday, October 18, 2007 at his residence He was the beloved husband of the late Gloria Crandall Pierce.
Russell was born in New Haven, September 13, 1922 son of the late Harry A. and Winifred (Tetu) Pierce. He was a naval veteran of World War II, having served in the South Pacific.
Until his retirement he worked for the New York, New Haven and Hartford Railroad as a welder. He was a member of the First Congregational Church of Wallingford, Madison Lodge # 87 AF & AM in Madison, and Mispah Chapter #37 O.E.S. in Wallingford. He was a former member of the Madison Lions Club.
He is survived by a nephew, Bruce Lawler of Hamden, a niece, Judy Azano of West Hartford and a cousin, Doris Pierce of Wallingford.
He is preceded in death by his cousin Kenneth Pierce, also of Wallingford.
Relatives and friends may call on Wednesday, October 24, 2007 from 4PM – 7PM at the B.C. Bailey Funeral Home, 273 S. Elm Street, Wallingford. A funeral service will be held at 6PM on Wednesday during calling hours, and officiated by Rev. Margaret Jay of the First Congregational Church of Wallingford. Interment will be private in Jordan Cemetery in Waterford. Memorial contributions may be made to the Masonic Charity Foundation, P.O. Box 70, Wallingford, CT 06492. The B.C. Bailey Funeral Home Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.
