Obituary of Harmon Scovil
Harmon S. Scovil, 90, of Wallingford, and formerly of Guilford and Port Charlotte, FL, beloved husband of Elizabeth (O'Neil) Scovil, departed this life on October 18, 2007 at the Masonic Healthcare Center.
Harmon was born on April 12, 1917 in Meriden, CT, son of the late Wilton and Ida (Peck) Scovil.
Harmon, an engineer, tool and dye maker, worked for A.C. Gilbert and then was the owner and operator of The Harmon S. Scovil Co. Inc., which specialized in: Tools, Prototype and Special Machinery. . He was a member of the St. Albus Lodge #38 of Guilford, a past member of the Westbrook Elks Lodge #1784, Indian Neck Yacht Club, past member of the Port Charlotte Kiwanis Club and a member of the Port Charlotte United Methodist Church.He enjoyed boating with his wife. They lived in Guilford, CT for most of their life until moving to Port Charlotte, FL in their retirement.
He will be sadly missed by his wife of nearly 55 years, Elizabeth O. Scovil of Wallingford. One son: Glenn Scovil and his wife Donna of Dover, DE. One daughter Beverly Woodmansee and her husband David of Milford. He also leaves six grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
A graveside service celebrating his life will be held at Evergreen Cemetery in New Haven on November 3, 2007 at 11:00 am. There will be no calling hours. Memorial contributions may be directed to the one's own charity. The Wallingford Cremation Service, has been entrusted with arrangements.
