WALLINGFORD – William T. Canning, 80, of Wallingford, entered into rest on Wednesday, September 12, 2007 at the Masonic Healthcare Center. He was the beloved husband of Barbara (Stevens) Canning. He was born on October 28, 1926 in Wallingford and was a son of the late Patrick J. and Annie (Reynolds) Canning. Prior to his retirement, he was employed as a firefighter for the Town of Wallingford. He was a communicant of Most Holy Trinity Church, and had been a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Major Raoul Lufbery VFW Post 591. In addition to his wife, he will be deeply missed by a son, William C. Canning of Northford; a daughter, Barbara A. Stainton of Wallingford; a brother, James R. Canning of Wallingford; and six grandchildren. He was pre-deceased by five brothers. Funeral services were private. There were no calling hours. Interment was at St. Johns Cemetery in Wallingford.
