Obituary of Gordon Rogers

WALLINGFORD - Gordon E. Rogers, 77, of Masonic Avenue, formerly of Plainville, died Friday, December 15, 2006 at the Masonic Healthcare Center. He was the husband of Barbara Lawrence Rogers. He was born in Franklinville, NY, August 22, 1929 a son of the late Albert L. and Eleanor Leonard Rogers. Mr. Rogers was a U.S. Navy veteran serving in both the Korean Conflict and Viet Nam. He was a member of the First Congregational Church of Plainville and was a past master of Frederick Franklin Lodge # 14, AF & AM in Plainville, Sphinx Temple Arab Patrol in Newington, Scottish Rites, Valley of Hartford and Valley of Norwich and was a past patron of Frederica Chapter # 110 O.E.S. in Plainville. He had also been a member of the Fleet Reserve Association. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his adopted daughter, Susan Cordon; two brothers, Donald J. Rogers and Wayne L. Rogers both of New York; and four sisters, Alma E. Watkins, Ellen N. Willey, Norma Jean Sonn and Janice N. Zeitler all of New York. He was predeceased by two brothers, Albert Rogers and Lyle R. Rogers. A memorial service will be held on a date to be announced in the chapel of the Masonic Healthcare Center, 22 Masonic Ave., Wallingford. There are no calling hours. If friends so desire gifts in his memory may be made to the Masonic Charity Foundation Endowment Fund, P.O. Box 70, Wallingford 06492. The family would like to thank the staff of the Masonic Healthcare Center's Ramage III and A.C.U. for their compassionate and attentive care to Mr. Rogers. The B.C. Bailey Funeral Home, 273 South Elm Street has been entrusted with the arrangements.
