WALLINGFORD – Donald A. Hjort, 80, of Northford Road passed away at his home on November 29, 2006. He was the beloved husband of Cathy Leber Hjort. He was born in South Portland, ME on January 15, 1926, a son of the late Jens and Anna Madsen Hjort. Prior to his retirement, Mr. Hjort worked in the composing room of the New Haven Register. He was an active member of the Wallingford Senior Citizens Center and the Zion Lutheran Church where he served as an officer, superintendent of the Sunday school, elder and trustee. He also had sung in the church choir and taught Sunday school. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, David Hjort and his wife Debbie of Jupiter, FL; a daughter, Linda Clark and her husband Harry of Wallingford; and two grandchildren, Nicole Hjort of Wallingford and Jessie Hjort of Florida. Friends may call upon the family at the B.C. Bailey Funeral Home, 273 South Elm St., Wallingford on Friday, December 1, 2006 (TODAY) from 4:00 to 6:00 pm. A funeral service will be held on Saturday at 10:30 am at the Zion Lutheran Church, 235 Pond Hill Rd., Wallingford. In lieu of flowers, gifts in his memory may be made to the Zion Lutheran Church.
