WALLINGFORD – George E. Steele, 69, of 1 Chester Ave. died Sunday, November 12, 2006 at the MidState Medical Center in Meriden. He was the husband of Anita Grinberg Steele. He was born in Wallingford, December 20, 1935 a son of the late Lloyd B. and Blanche C. Layman Steele. George was a communicant of Sts. Peter & Paul Church, and a member of the Turner Society in Meriden, the Wallingford P.N.A. and the Wallingford Hungarian Club. He was employed at Hall Brothers Hatchery from 1960 to 1978 and was a School Custodian for The Town of Wallingford retiring in March of this year. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Jude D. Steele of So. Meriden and James L. Steele and wife Anne of West Haven, two daughters, Blanche C. Steele of Hamden and Theresa Catalde of New Haven and a brother James Steele of Wallingford. He was predeceased by a son, George F. Steele and a brother Lloyd Steele. The funeral will leave the B.C. Bailey Funeral Home, 273 So. Elm St. on Thursday at 9:15 a.m. for a mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. at Sts. Peter and Paul Church, 127 North Orchard Street. Burial will be at In Memoriam Cemetery.
