Obituary of Jean Holloway
WALLINGFORD - Jean E. Holloway, 87, of 19 South Elm Street died Monday, October 9, 2006 at her home. She was the wife of the late John E. Holloway Sr.
She was born in Meriden, April 4, 1919, a daughter of the late Francis and Frances Stevenson Carroll Sr.
Until her retirement, she was a sales person at Gordineer's Fashion Studio.
She was a life long resident of Wallingford, and was a member of the First Congregational Church in Wallingford and was very active in all church affairs. She was secretary for the Veterans Memorial Committee since 1963 and was active in various Wallingford parades. She was a member of the former Mizpah
Chapter No. 37 O.E.S. in Wallingford, Susan Carrington Clarke Chapter of the D.A.R., Wallingford Center St. Cemetery Association, Wallingford Celebrations Committee, and was past president of Shaw - Sinon
Post Auxiliary of the American Legion.
She is survived by two sons, John E. Holloway, Jr. and his wife Amy of Ft. Mead, MD and David Holloway and his wife Debbie of Wallingford, a brother Francis W. Carroll Jr. of Wallingford, one sister Ruth Connell of Colorado Springs, CO. and five grandchildren, Deanna Drumheller, Danielle Miller Doreen Holloway, Shannon Holloway, and Jenna Holloway, three great grandchildren Emma Miller, Taheton Prodoti and Sydney Drumheller. She was predeceased by two sisters Harriet Stacey and Nancy Bossidy
A memorial service will be held on Friday, October 13, 2006 at 1:00 p.m. at the First Congregational Church, 23 South Main St., Wallingford. There are no calling hours. Burial will be private.
