My Favorite story Nanny told me was of a time when she would ditch school and hide on her fathers fishing boat until he was out to sea. Fishing was her fathers living so he had no choice but to let her tag along. Often Nanny would jump overboard and swim out in the open ocean. One day while swimming her Dad told her to quickly swim to the boat. She did just as she was told and upon exiting the water a shark brushed by her. At her funeral I couldn't help but notice the symbolism of her story.Nanny was swimming in the wavy ocean which is the sea of life. As far as the shark well the shark is death always trying to get you. The boat in which nanny's father stood is a representation of God waiting for her at the end of a long swim waiting to take her home. Nanny made it to the boat and she is going home
