Obituary of Elizabeth May Paterson Reims
Elizabeth P. Reims, 90, of Pompano Beach, Florida passed away peacefully on May 29, 2017 in Wallingford, CT surrounded by family. She was born January 22, 1927 in Freeport, Long Island to the late Robert B. and Ethel Paterson. She was predeceased by her husband, Donald W. Reims, of 52 years.
She is survived by her daughters Nancy Welch (Jeff) of St. Augustine, FL, Susan Joslyn of Wallingford, CT and son, Donald Reims, Jr. (Karen) of Old Saybrook, CT. Also surviving, are her grandchildren Becky Michaelis (Brandon), Brian Smith, Chris Reims (Jessica) and Matt Reims, her great grandchildren, Brooke Michaelis and Kylie Reims, her brothers Robert E. Paterson of Pennsylvania and John Stauffer (Jean) of Brookfield, CT and her furry Siamese companion of 15 years, Marvin.
“Betty” was a graduate of Hood College and was a kindergarten teacher prior to her marriage to WWII Navy Veteran, Donald. Together they built a life and family in Wallingford for 50 plus years. There, they became the best parents and friends to many, many people.
Betty was quite active in golf, tennis and bridge at the Farms Country Club and in Pompano Beach, FL as well as member of the Wallingford Garden Club. She was an avid reader and enjoyed quilting, crossword puzzle solving and building friendships. Her cheerful spirit, sense of humor and wisdom will live on in the hearts of generations of family and friends.
