It has been almost 40 years since I shot at Blue Trail, as the Match Director for the Central Connecticut Handgun Silhouette Association. I was a semi-regular civilian visitor prior to this. David always had my utmost respect. He was a great help in getting our little group publicized to the point where we were hosting a CT State Championship that rivaled larger shoots in attendance and prizes offered. I only found out about his untimely death 11 August 2018. when FB popped a notice about the NRA certification course. My deepest condolences to Debbie and Remington. We have lost a giant in the world of shooting.

I met Dave a few years back when I was the Athletic Director at Avon Old Farms School. At the time, interest in the sport of Riflery seemed to be waning both within our own community and within our league. When I called Dave to see if he might be able to help, Dave, Deb and their partners literally saved the program. Throughout the past 10 years, Dave has coached the boys, transported the boys to and from practice, opened up his range for us to compete in matches, and, through his connections, made it possible for our boys to train at ranges closer to our school. More than this, Dave has been an exemplary role model for our boys on their journey to manhood. To say that the world lost a great man is an understatement. Dave Lyman was a coach, teacher and friend. I am deeply saddened to learn of his loss. His friends at Avon Old Farms will miss him dearly.

Dear family and friends,
You and so so many others will forever miss David. He was always sane, sensible, dealing with
the chaotic world around us with a wry sense of humor. And he was ever generous, a natural
teacher of thousands of young shooters and a knowledgeable guide to adult shooters and customers.
In brief, a New England gentleman. Lee Flanagan a Blue Trail regular.

With tears in our eyes, we will remember Dave on all those summer days here in Australia. The fun, laughter and sometimes the tears that were shed when having to leave to go home, from all parties. The friendship that was formed will last forever in our hearts. Even though the miles kept us all apart, you were closer to us that some of the people that live closer to us. Your inspiration, and thoughtful way that you encourage all of will live in our hearts and minds ever.
With lots of Love

To Daves family,
Our hearts are so saddened for you, at the loss of your husband and father. He was so much a part of two of our childrens lives for many years in the early 80's. Every Sat morning was rifle team practice with Dave. Our son Todd, made the All State Rifle team under Daves excellent teaching. We will never forget him, or those days. You have our prayers, and our heartfelt thoughts. He was a wonderful man. ❤️

Dave was one of the most important and influential people of my young life. He was the man that taught me to shoot, that gave me my first job. He encouraged me to be the best I could be.
No single person has done more for youth shooting sports or the Second Amendment in Connecticut than Dave Lyman. Tens of thousands of young people, myself included, owe him more than words can express.
My deepest condolences to the Lyman family. Dave will be sorely missed.
