Obituary of Francis (Frank) T. Sarno

WALLINGFORD – Francis (Frank) Sarno (Lee), 79, loving husband, father and poppi, peacefully went to meet his Lord and Savior on September 7, 2017. He was married to his beloved wife of 60 years Mary Louise Delaney Sarno. Frank was born in New Haven on October 19, 1937 to the late William and Lucy Sarno.

Frank was a proud veteran of the US Army and served overseas in Verdun, France during the Korean Conflict.

Prior to his retirement he worked at the Stop and Shop warehouse in North Haven for 36 years. After retirement, he worked part time for Lyman Hall High School where he enjoyed being with the students.

In addition to his wife, Frank will be cherished in the memories of his children: Thomas and Lorraine Sarno, Pete and Denise Sarno, Joseph and Sue Sarno, Francine and Jim Curley, Doreen and Jerry Getman, Laura Sarno Clark, Becky and Bryan Saulis; grandchildren: Thomas Sarno Jr. and Tyler and Jennie Sarno, Randell Sarno, Amanda Sarno and her fiancé Matt, Stephanie Sarno, and Jesse Sarno, Justin and Jacob Sarno, Mark and Alyssa DeAngelis, Ashley Rose Getman and her fiancé Wayne, Liana Joy Clark, and Matthew Saulis; great grandchildren: Levi James Sarno, Addison and Harper Grace DeAngelis, and a little one, Peyton, on the way! He is also survived by brothers and sisters-in-law: Anthony and Madeline Sarno and William and Susan Sarno. He also leaves many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son Louis, his sisters Maryann Mendoza and Jeannie Sarno and a brother Louis Sarno. He also leaves his cat, “Little Lou.”

Frank could be found tending to his many rose bushes or weeding the gardens as he loved being outside. At night he enjoyed watching his beloved Yankees or UConn Girls basketball and don’t forget the New York Giants. Frank belonged to the Senior Center and loved going on trips to plays and the casino with his wife. He was in every sense of the word a Family Man as he loved us all very much. We are all very saddened with his passing but find comfort with all of our wonderful memories. He will forever be in our hearts and we hope the angels have a lot of ketchup waiting for him.
