Obituary of Jean Feinson Bramley
Jean Feinson Bramley died on September 9, 2017 in Canaan, CT. She was born on August 1st, 1921 in Albany, NY, to Lillian Scheanblum Feinson and Samuel Feinson. She was the wife of the late Arthur Bramley.
Jean grew up in Danbury, CT and graduated from Danbury High School in 1939, after which she attended Simmons College. During WWII she served in the Women’s Army Corps. She married Arthur in 1946. They moved to Wallingford, CT in 1950, where Jean lived for over 60 years. During the 1950’s they ran a retail store in Wallingford. After Arthur’s death in 1958 Jean returned to college and graduated from Southern Conn. State University, where she later also received her Master’s Degree. Jean taught elementary school in Wallingford for 21 years before retiring in 1982. From 2014 to 2017 she lived in Geer Village in Canaan, CT.
Jean was a retired Life Member of the Conn. Education Assoc. She was a life member of Hadassah. She was a volunteer at Gaylord Hospital for 40 years. She was a volunteer at Goodspeed Opera House, the Long Wharf Theater and the Wallingford Public Library. She was an avid bridge player, attaining the rank of Silver Life Master. She belonged to book discussion groups throughout the years.
Jean traveled widely, especially after retirement, visiting most of the states and many foreign countries, often with good friend the late Giorgina Vitale.
She leaves her sons Bart (Judy) and Richard (Patricia), her sister Ruth Effron, her brother Morris Feinson (Bobbi), grandchildren Nestor and Andrea Bramley, and many nieces and nephews.
Her funeral will be held on Tuesday, September 12th at 11:00 AM at the B.C. Bailey Funeral Home, 273 South Elm Street, Wallingford. Graveside services will follow at Beth Israel Cemetery, 209 Dudley Ave., Wallingford.
