Obituary of Eva E. Tefft
WALLINGFORD - Eva (Betty) Elizabeth Marks Tefft, 92, departed this life on September 23, 2017 peacefully at home. She was the beloved wife of 50 years to the late Andrew H. Tefft.
Among Betty's most admired traits were the love, devotion and pride she felt for her family. She was an incredibly energetic person, always giving or helping whenever she could. Interests included sewing, gardening, baking, swimming, golf, picture taking and especially being with her family and spending cherished time with her grandchildren, great and great-great grandchildren. So many shared projects and outings with them over the years brought her tremendous happiness. Betty thoroughly enjoyed her friends, activities and dances at the Wallingford Senior Center until just a few months ago. For many years Betty was a familiar face welcoming guests at the reception desk of the Yankee Silversmith Inn. She was later promoted to the management team and was responsible for the Parlour Car.
Eva was sister to Allen S. Marks of West Hartford and Dorothy Marks Gioscio of Springfield, MA. She is survived by her dear children Cherri Meyer (Bob) of Wallingford, Deborah Broytman (Miron) of Southington, Randy Tefft (Natalie) of Keene, NH and Greg Tefft (Kim) of Wallingford. She was predeceased by her much adored son Bradley Tefft. She will forever be in the hearts of her precious grandchildren: Jennifer Meyer Leach (Richard Shaw) of Wallingford, Elizabeth Meyer Kelley (Shawn) of Quechee, VT, Spencer R. Meyer (Joanna) of Guilford, Lexie and Tory Broytman, Kyle Tefft and Kaylee Maresca of Wallingford, Sara Tefft DeShazo (Donny) of Garland, TX, Laura Tefft Silver (Jason) of : Montclair, NJ. Full of love for their Gram, she leaves 8 great grandchildren: Kasey, Jessica and Brian Leach, Andrew and Silas Meyer, Graham Kelley and Arabelle and Alex Silver. Her twin great-great grandchildren, Jack and Annabeth Leach, will grow up viewing hundreds of photos with her and hearing stories about the immense joy and pleasure they brought to her in the last 8 months of her of her life.
A special thank you to the Franciscan Hospice Home Care Team who guided Betty and her family through a difficult time with their gentle love and knowledge; her exceptional and loving caregivers Pat Davis (also a phenomenal neighbor and friend), Ashley DePino who was on top of her needs daily and Kim Moynihan. Betty thoroughly enjoyed her friends, activities and dances at the Wallingford Senior Center until just a few months ago.
