Obituary of William Jeffrey Goldstein
William “Billy” J. Goldstein, 48, of Wallingford passed away on September 22, 2017 after a courageous battle with kidney cancer. Billy was born on December 16, 1968 to the late Nathan & Iris (Bernard) Goldstein of Wallingford.
Billy was a graduate of Lyman Hall High School (1986) and a proud of member of the 1985 Lyman Hall HS Championship Football Team (#55). He continued to be dedicated to Lyman Hall Football over the years by volunteering to coach or working the chains. At the time of his passing, he was the Chief Operating Officer of World Record Striper Company. Among his many interests were football (New York Giants), baseball (Boston Red Sox) and the music of the Grateful Dead.
Billy is survived by his adoring fiance, Crystal LaVoie of Wallingford, his loving children Robbie and Becca Goldstein, also of Wallingford, his sister, Barbra (Goldstein) Naylor (Jason Naylor) and their children, Nathan and Josie. Billy has a loving extended family of aunts, uncles and cousins who were all an important part of his life. His teammates and coaches from the 1985 Lyman Hall High School Championship Football Team were dedicated friends who were more like brothers. He had too many friends to count. Anyone who knew Billy cherished his contagious laugh and his adventurous spirit. Billy was a fun-loving man who always inspired us to have a positive mental attitude (PMA). He opted for fun in his life and always stayed relaxed, even through the tough times and especially in the later days of his disease. Billy will be woefully missed but we take solace in knowing that he is at peace and now smiling upon us. Nothing left to do but smile, smile, smile (J. Garcia, R. Hunter).
A visitation for Billy will be held on Tuesday, September 26, from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. at the B.C. Bailey Funeral Home, 273 S. Elm Street, Wallingford, CT. A funeral procession will follow from there to Beth Israel Cemetery. A shiva for all mourners will be held at 44 South Elm Street immediately following the interment, and a private shiva for family will be held (also at the family's home) on Wednesday from 12-4 pm.
