Obituary of Ruth C. Duncan
WALLINGFORD - Ruth C. Duncan, 91, of Ashlar Village, formerly of West Simsbury entered eternal rest on October 9, 2017 at Masonicare. She was the beloved wife of Kenneth E. Duncan. Ruth was born in West Haven, CT on January 30, 1926 to the late Arthur and Marion (Bunnell) Cost Sr.
She was a 1943 graduate of West Haven High School and later went to work for the United Illuminating Company. Ruth was Past Worthy Advisor of the West Haven Rainbow Girls as well as a member of the Order of the Eastern Star.
She and Ken were married in 1947 and settled down in West Simsbury, CT to start their family. Here, Ruth was a member of the First Congregational Church and a Worthy Matron of Hesper Chapter of Eastern Star. She also served as Secretary of the parish for many years. In 2005, after 48 wonderful years in West Simsbury, she and Ken decided to move to Ashlar Village in Wallingford, CT.
Besides her loving husband, Ruth leaves behind a daugter, Susan Howison (Del) of Burbank, CA and a son Alan B. Duncan (Jane) of Amarillo, TX as well as four grandchildren; Scott and Jason Weymouth and Kathleen and Abigail Duncan. In addition to her parents, Ruth was predeceased in life by her brother Arthur Cost Jr. and her sister Marilyn Sears.
A private graveside service will be held on Tuesday October 10, 2017 at 1:30 pm at the Beaverdale Cemetery in New Haven. There will be no calling hours. In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Masonicare Charity Foundation or the OES Charity Foundation. The B.C.
