Obituary of Edward G. Ohr Jr.

WALLINGFORD - Edward G. Ohr Jr., 90, of Wallingford, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 22, 2017, at the Masonicare Healthcare Center in Wallingford. He was the beloved companion to Sharon Cioffi of Wallingford and Meriden.

Ed was born on March 30, 1927 to the late Edward and Marjorie (Wright) Ohr Sr. After graduating high school, Ed attended Yale University, and later joined the U.S. Navy fighting for our country in WWII. When he returned home, he graduated with a Bachelor's degree from UCONN, and started working for the United States Postal Service where he later retired. Ed kept working after retirement, but always set aside time to tend to his large vegetable and gladiola gardens. Among his most favorite things to do was to travel. Whether it be on a train sightseeing from coast to coast with his partner Sharon, or sailing the sound together along the shoreline of Connecticut. Ed and Sharon would find jazz clubs wherever they were to take part in one of Ed's greatest passions, music.

Besides Sharon, Edward will be sorely missed by his extended family, as well as his extended Cioffi family. Including their 7 grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM on Monday, November 27, 2017 at the B.C. Bailey Funeral Home, 273 South Elm St. in Wallingford. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home following the visitation at 12:00 PM. Interment with military honors will take place at In Memoriam Cemetery immediately following the service.
