Obituary of Saul Freilich
WALLINGFORD - Saul Freilich, 90, of Wallingford, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 25, 2017, at Midstate Medical Center. He was the beloved husband of Naomi (Kassell) Freilich.
Saul was born in Brooklyn, NY on July 30, 1927 to the late Phillip and Frances Freilich. After graduating from Boston University, Saul began his career as a journalist in Lewistown, MT. From there he moved and continued his career for a newspaper in Middletown, NY, and later relocated to New Haven, writing for the New Haven Register. Saul then continued his career working for the Springfield Union in Massachusetts, before traveling back down to the Meriden area where he wrote for the Meriden Journal. Saul was very involved at Beth Israel Synagogue attending their Torah study every week. Among his many hobbies, Saul mostly enjoyed his time singing in the Wallingford Senior Center Chorus.
Along with his wife, Saul will be missed by his son Jeffrey (Patricia) Freilich of VA; and his daughter Franci Freilich of Wallingford. He is also survived by two brothers, Albert Freilich and Arnold Freilich. Besides his parents, Saul was predeceased by one sister, Hilda Reiskin. He also leaves behind several nieces, nephews, and extended family.
A funeral service will be held at 12:00 PM on Thursday, December 28, 2017, at the B.C. Bailey Funeral Home, 273 South Elm St. in Wallingford. Interment will immediately follow at the Beth Israel Cemetery in Wallingford. Memorial contributions in his name are asked to be forwarded to one or more of the following: National MS Society, P.O.
