Obituary of Arlene T. Kenney
WALLINGFORD - Arlene T. Kenney passed away on January 23, 2018 in Wallingford, CT surrounded by her loving family.
Arlene was born on March 2, 1932 in West Haven, CT to the late Edward & Mabel (Hatch) Thomas. She graduated from West Haven High School in 1949 and continued her education throughout her life, obtaining her Bachelor of Science degree in 1973 and her Master's degree in 1975. Arlene went on to a career at Hartford Hospital as the Chief Clinical Dietitian. She received the Woman of the Year award in 1983. Eleven years later she attended Pace Law School in White Plains, NY earning a Juris Doctor degree. She passed the Connecticut bar in 1993 and went on to practice law for Fischer and Fischer, LLC in West Haven.
Arlene is predeceased by her loving husband Edward of 56 years. She leaves behind her devoted family: daughter Leslie Shea (Stephen), and son, Edward Kenney (Ned). Also mourning her passing are two grandchildren: Jennifer Carpenter (Brendan) and their son Joshua, and Micah (Alyssa) and their son Logan.
Arlene had many interests: she loved to read and garden, and she enjoyed the arts, the theater and museums as well as being an accomplished pianist. She and Edward loved to play cards—bridge and setback especially. They traveled together to many interesting places throughout the world with a group of lifelong friends, including June & Bob Granger, Lou & Elle Dube, Rus & Dorothy Gorden, Bob & Janice Fodero, Leo & Priscilla Pepin, Ken & Joan Gertz, Justin & Liz Barzda, Paul & Ann Moss, Aldo & Laurie Prario and Mike & Cathy Gallacher.
Calling hours will be on Monday, January 29 from 5:00pm to 7:00pm at B.C. Bailey Funeral Home, 273 South Elm Street, Wallingford, CT. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, January 30 at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 65 North Main Street, Wallingford, CT at 11:00am.
