Obituary of Julie Carmine Lonardo

Julie Carmine Lonardo

Judy, as affectionately referred to by her late husband Mike, went home to be with her Savior Jesus on Thursday, February 22, 2018, one day shy of her 91st birthday.  She passed peacefully at the hospital after a short illness.  Julie was 90 years of age and was born in New Haven, Connecticut on February 23, 1927 to her parents Steven and Josephine.  She was the only child born to them.

She is survived by her four children.  Michael J. Lonardo, Patricia L. Lonardo both of East Haven, Marianne Lonardo and James Muro of Florida, David Lonardo and wife Paula of Wallingford, grand-daughter Jessica M. Lonardo of Arkansas, and great grand-daughter Avaleen Rose Baker.  She is “Aunt Judy” to Laurie, Susan, Lu-Ann, Paul, Eddie, and Christine, the beautiful children of her late brother-in-law Salvatore Lonardo.

Julie, also known affectionately as “Nonni” was a wonderful wife and mother and was liked by everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.  She always enjoyed a funny joke or a story and you could hear her laugh a mile away.  Mom was always busy providing care and structure for us “kids” and made sure we grew up with respect and kindness.  She loved to sew, duck pin bowling and taking care of the family home. We used to joke that she got all her energy from eating Pop Tarts, which she loved and ate every day!  Above all on this earth, Julie loved her husband Mike of 66 years, her family and was proud of all of us.

A very special thanks to our sister Patti for her relentless love and care for our parents along with all your siblings!  We are so grateful for your unselfish attitude and sacrifice.

We also want to thank Blossom for her care and love of “Mama Jude,” Mary, the ICU staff at Yale, Charlie and the Foxon Volunteer Firemen, great lifelong neighbors, and all others who helped care for our mom these past few years.

In closing, a favorite quote from Mom, “Be Careful!” :)

We Love You and Will See You + Dad Again!
