Mary Sarno

Obituary of Mary Louise Sarno

WALLINGFORD - Mary Louise Sarno, 81, loving wife, mother, and "Nawnie", peacefully entered the pearly gates to meet her Lord and Savior on Friday, March 2, 2018. She was married for 60 years to her beloved late husband, Francis 'Frank' Sarno. Mary Lou was born March 12, 1936 in San Antonio Texas to James and Ann (Falkowsky) Delaney and grew up in Manchester, Connecticut. She graduated from Saint Raphael‘s with an RN degree, where she started her career and also met her soon-to-be husband. After their marriage in Verdun, France, they moved to Wallingford where her nursing career began at Wallingford Convalescent Home until she retired.

Her passion was caring for others in every aspect of her life. She was very active in her children’s lives as room mother and den mother, all while also being involved in the Junior Women’s Club. She cared for foster children and was known as "Mom Sarno" to all her children's friends, whom she loved as her own. Mary loved reading, cooking for everyone, crocheting, and writing. Her strong faith and love for the Lord carried her through all obstacles of her life. She found beauty in everything and everyone. She could often be found enjoying her cardinals, trips to the ocean, and spending time with her family.

Mary will be cherished in the memories of her loving family, including her children: Thomas and Lorraine Sarno, Pete and Denise Sarno, Joseph and Sue Sarno, Francine and Jim Curley, Doreen and Jerry Getman, Laura Sarno Clark, Becky and Bryan Saulis; grandchildren: Thomas Sarno Jr. and his fiancee Brooke Riso, Tyler and Jennie Sarno, Randell Sarno, Amanda and Matt Kaman, Stephanie Sarno, and Jesse Sarno, Justin and Jacob Sarno, Mark and Alyssa DeAngelis, Ashley Rose Getman and her fiancé Wayne, Liana Joy Clark, and Matthew Saulis; great grandchildren: Levi James Sarno, Addison and Harper Grace DeAngelis, and Peyton Wayne Macdonald. She is also survived by her three sisters; Sophie Ann and Carl Silver, Donna Meyer and Barbara "Bobbsie" and Ted Zupnik; her brother Dennis and Tina Delaney; her sister-in-law, Carol Delaney and many nieces and nephews. Mary also cherished throughout her life, her “soul sister“, Rebecca Wetteman, who helped the Sarno family tremendously throughout the last months of Mary's life with loving care.

Besides her husband and parents, Mary was predeceased by her son Louis Sarno, her brother, Jack Delaney, her sister Bernadette Delaney and her treasured cat "Little Lou".

Mary was a blessing to all who knew her and the best mom anyone could ask for. Her family will cherish her in their hearts forever.
