Obituary of Barbara Bulmer

WALLINGFORD - Barbara Bulmer, 90, departed this life on March 9, 2018 at Masonicare in Wallingford. She was the beloved wife of Allen Bulmer for 67 years.

Barbara was born in Meriden on April 18, 1927 to the late Herbert and Catherine (Carey) Briggs.

Until her retirement, Mrs. Bulmer was employed as a teacher for the Wallingford Board of Education. She was a member of the First Congregational Church of Wallingford and was a deacon, served on the stewardship committee, scholarship committee and the women's fellowship of the church. She was a member of the Wallingford Senior Center and Wallingford AARP.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by two daughters: Karen Powers and husband Carl of Torrance, CA and Jennifer Ide and husband Marv of Durham; a sister, Rhoda Bateman of Wallingford, and six grandchildren: Matthew Ide and wife Tracy, Callan Magro and husband William, Lauren Ide, Gillian Powers, Emily Ide and Andrew Powers. Barbara will also be greatly missed by three loving friends; Ruth Froggett, and bridge partners and neighbors; Joan Ginter and Marilyn Hausmann.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 17th at 10:00am at the First Congregational Church of Wallingford, 23 South Main St. Burial will follow at In Memoriam Cemetery. Friends may call at the B.C. Bailey Funeral Home, 273 South Elm St., Wallingford on Friday, March 16th from 4:00 to 7:00 PM.
