Obituary of Roberta Lynne DeHart

PORT CHARLOTTE, FL- Roberta “Bobbie-Lynne” (BiegaDeHart, 65, of CT and FL passed away on March 14, 2018 at Fawcett Memorial Hospital in Port Charlotte, FL. She was the beloved wife of the late Robert DeHart.

Bobbie-Lynne (BL) was born June 6, 1952 in Meriden, CT to the late Stanley Biega and Roberta (Bingham) Biega. She was raised in Wallingford along with her two brothers. She graduated from Lyman Hall High School in 1970 and went on to attend State University of New York at Delhi to get her Associates degree in Animal Science. BL worked at vet clinics, IBM in Hartford where she met her husband, Bob, and Middlesex Hospital in Middletown CT, where she continued to work until 2017.

BL and Bob got married in September 1981 at First Congregational Church in Wallingford with a fun filled backyard reception and from there their journey began. They enjoyed traveling especially after they bought their first RV. They began to make annual trips to FL and, after a few years, decided to purchase a home in FL to become “snowbirds”. They would hop in that RV with the dogs and make the trek down south, stopping to visit friends and family along the way. BL had many passions, one being her love for animals both big and small. She got her first horse, Echo, while still in college who was her “baby”. She and Bob had two beautiful show dogs Dreamer and Breezy who were their fur babies, their love for dogs began with their dear Amber. The house was filled every hour with the chime of a different bird and you could see hummingbirds visit at the window as they came to eat. She was an excellent cook that could whip up something with no recipe. She loved hosting Thanksgiving with every single trimming you can think of to include “made by BL” family favorites like cucumber salad and butternut squash. Her knack for gardening brought her to be a member of the garden club in FL. She loved music and poetry and we would be foolish if we didn’t mention that she was a hardcore women’s UCONN basketball fan. If she couldn’t watch the game, it was recorded to watch later and she would “FF” through the commercials. She was a lifelong member of First Congregational Church where she was a Deacon and also in the choir. The love that BL had for family and friends was evident in her everyday life. She was compassionate, head strong, bold, brave, loving, honest, a pillar for those who loved her and whom she loved in return. BL leaves behind many special friends that she has made throughout her beautiful journey through this world. Everywhere she went, she brought people together through common hobbies or just her desire to keep her friends and family close.

She is survived by her brothers, Lee Biega (Terese) and their kids, Elisha, Carissa (FL), Kyle (Niki-AZ) and Travis of CT; David Biega (Diane) and their kids, Seth, Nathan and Grace of CT; and survived by her step daughters Heather Cipolla (Jay) and their kids, Catherine and Jonah of VT; and Susan (Bob) Dorr and their kids, Sara and Lydia of TX. “Auntie B” will be missed by her grand niece, Summer- daughter of Kyle and Niki and grand nephew Dean- son of Elisha Biega.
